The Puyallup Tribe’s donation of $200,000 to Northwest Harvest will help keep food on the table for countless struggling families. Tribal officials presented the check during King 5's Home Team Harvest event at the Tacoma Mall on Dec. 7. “It’s such a great feeling to be able to take care of those in need,” said Councilmember David Bean. “As Indian people, we’re taught to take care of our land and community, and it’s wonderful to be in the position to be able to make contributions to help others.”
Northwest Harvest is Washington’s only non-profit hunger relief agency that operates statewide, providing nutritious food to hungry people throughout the state. The organization provides more than 1.7 million meals each month, and 26 million pounds per year to its network of emergency food providers.
